Bonneville - A Durango Board Designed by Erik Skjolsvik

Bonneville - Durango Boards

"Inspired by the old skool speedsters on the Bonneville Salt Flats and the retro surf boards of So-Cal. The Bonneville Surf is for the older crowd that once road their skate boards in pools and streets across America in the 70’s and 80’s. Erik Skjolsvik was born in Fort Worth, TX where he became the designer at Skjolsvik’s Floor Coverings at the age of 17 designing custom rugs for IBM, Mary Kay, country western legend Hank Snow and B.J. Thomas among many others. After leaving the rug business he began traveling the US and Mexico mounting exhibitions in museums. He was one of a seven-person Special Projects team at Fine Arts Express that took blockbuster exhibitions on tour. Also during this time he operated a small contemporary art gallery called Forest Park Art Space in Fort Worth. His art has been accepted in gallery and museum shows throughout Texas and was included in Fort Worth Hot Shots. A show that went to all the major cities. He relocated to Santa Fe then on to San Francisco where he started Skjolsvik Kustom Shop. The specialty was hand painted backdrops for rock and roll bands. His long list of clients included Pantera, Machine Head, Slayer, Megadeth, Atlantic Records, Jagermeister Music Tour and so on. After meeting his wife Pamela and having their first child they decided to part with the city and relocate to the country. They choose Durango on a kitchen wall map and moved site unseen in January 2001. Locally, he has designed the AJ’s pizza, Babo’s and Billy Goat Saloon logos in Bayfield. He cut the kustom shop clients except for a few long time friends and now concentrates on smaller stuff. You can find him during the day painting cars at Doug’s Auto Body.
